New vid for an awesome track

Check it :)

The Presets - Are You The One (Lifelike's 1 Serious Remix) (mf) (ysi)

Very trippy.
Giddy up!

Or as our boy from Modular says:

"A technicoloured trip through crystal cities and swirling universes, this new video for The Presets is a snapshot straight from the mind’s eye of some of Australia’s premiere creative gurus. BMW + Modular approached Jonathan Zawada and Shane Sakkeus (alongside the production brainiacs at Collider) to create a new video algorithm to solve the age old problem "what do you get when you cross Presets + BMW + LifeLike + Zawada + Sakkeus + Collider? The answer; a joy ride of the imagination that results in pure optical bliss. Traversing through parallel worlds of rainbow moon rocks, pyramids, and cosmic clouds, THE ONE(s) navigates the heavens and the earths alike. Ecstasy to the eye. Drink it in people."

The Presets Apocolypso Australian Tour Dates

Yes, it's The Presets again, and yes, I'm still as excited about it, If you're annoyed about the obsession you can blame them for so efficiently releasing tracks and news in drips and drabs so I have to post about it all separately.

Anyways, I hadn't seen anyone post their Australian Apocolypso tour dates (which I found via their myspace) so I thought I'd let you all in on them. I also found this cool picture of The Presets, whilst trawling google images to find one to go with this post. Looks fair old to me.

So the dates The Presets will be rocking your socks are as follows:

Here's a video

It's a compilation from their gigs at NEVEREVERLAND (if you don't know what that was you missed out).

Right Click Save As (10MB): The Presets - My People (Semi-Live - Video, Not Audio - From Sydney Nevereverland Daft Punk Show)

Also last...

But definitely not least is the another track from the album, that was on their 5 track sampler. I think it almost got lost among the other tracks from the sampler. It's the slowest of all the preview tracks as of yet. Definitely a different track from most of thier hits, but reminds me of some old tracks. It builds at the 40sec mark and drops at the min. It seems to have more of a story, more meaning, it's not just a song drunk people will dance too. Seems like a angry love song between a man/woman who's boyfriend cheated on him with a woman... with a lyrics like "I hope I never have to / Go and explain / Explain it again / Boy that it all started / Found you in the arms of another girl..." It's quickly growing on me and becoming a fave.

The Presets - I If Know You (YSI) (MF)

And for a free M.O.M remix of My People and tour info from the presets themselves head here

If you can't tell, I have started boycotting zShare. Fuck. I. Hate. All. Those. Ads!!!

Hope you like it.

Buy the album ($20 / It's SIGNED! / Out 12th April)...

I noticed even The Presets themselves, on their myspace, have started linking to JB-Hi-Fi (who I'm not to happy at, at the moment!), as the mod shop is all out. (BTW there are 7 links to 'you know whos' myspace in there, see if you can find them all)

Kick & Scream Bitches

Bringing back memories? This is a ridiculously low quality camera phone picture from when I saw The Presets on the Love Boat in '06. What a great fucking day that was. The Presets have been epically awesome from the first time I head them and they're only getting better. It definitely shows in the first two tracks that have been released from their second album Apocalypso. And they've keep it coming!

Y'all might remember that I posted a live recording of The Presets playing the 'Kicking & Screaming' track way back when at Never Ever Land. Well, the album version is out and it is H-O-T.

It will be as big, if not bigger, than any of their other tracks to date. Or that's my prediction anyway.

I got hold of it via STAIII and my new rss feed demon program that tells me when I should be in the know. It has also just told me that it's now on at least one other blog. Awesome. Check 'em out.

Oh, but before you do that, go and pre-order the album like I have told you oh so many times. And I'm thinking most of you listened because the Mod Shop says they are out of stock, so head over to JB. You'll be Kicking & Screaming if you miss out. Ahh. Had to be said. Here it is.

The Presets - Kicking & Screaming
(YSI)

You can check out their other newby 'A New Sky' (which although I don't think has as much bangage potential, its still up their with all that is the quality of The Presets music) on either of the other blogs I linked to above.

Enjoy.

More Presets

There's a new video and track to be found from The Presets, with plenty of remixes to follow in the coming weeks.

The video is below, it seems to flow on from the video for My People, very dark and dingy, and also some other themes that seem so prevalent when looking at The Presets. It has lots of symbolism.

And the vid must only just be out, it only has 78 views on youtube, and was a world premier when it was shown on the j's apparently.

To catch the track, I'll send you over to WavesAtNight who I first glimpsed from. Cheers.

Cut Copy, JB Does it again

It's clear theres a trend, these days it seems normal to see a band releasing their ablum for free

(yes thats a link about Radiohead), or another method I just heard about was The Glimmers releasing their debut by giving it away for free... at their concerts.

Closer to home Australian bands, such as the previously posted about The Presets (which has a new release date on the 11th of April, there's so much news to catch up on!) and now Cut Copy have joined in. The stinge in me hesitated from ordering this copy (I'm hoping you've purchased that one already) hoping an offer like this would come up.

Identical to The Preset offer (except for the artist & album)

Apocalypso!

YOU CAN PRE-ORDER THE PRESETS NEW ALBUM 'APOCALYPSO' (FUCK YES) FOR $20, NOW!

Click Click Click Buy Buy Buy

Its not offen you google something and only get 1 result, let alone that one result being completely irrelevant. But thats how much this must be on the low down, so sorry if this post is disjointed but I'm buying some copies as I type (seriously, I just bought 3).

Here's what I know:

The Presets (if you're not already, go be their friend, you'll thank me for it) are releasing their second album 'Apocalypso', two years after the massive success of their debut album 'Beams' and their two EPs 'Girl & The Sea' & 'Blow Up'. Recently playing on the Australia Daft Punk tour circuit and being rated up there with the two robots and their friend SebastiAn & Kavinsky, and before that, going around the world (forgive the pun) playing some major festivals. It's due for release (according to JB) on the 4th of the 4th, 2008.

From JB Hi-Fi:
Ranging from expansive, emotive techno, to future pagan house and choral space funk, Apocalypso demonstrates the band's undeniably canny knack for welding hook-laden pop to the most singular and exciting sounds today. Along the way The Presets have become one of Australia's most in-demand live acts, and after two non-stop years touring the major festivals of the world, they've managed to capture some of this energy in these new recordings. Welcome to the world of Apocalypso.

Due to only finding out about this approximately 10 mins ago, forgive me if I haven't been able to track a tracklist down for it. But believe me it is bound to include their recent smash My People (video / track / remix below) and possibly even the other 'untitled' (or possibly titled 'Kicking & Screaming') track they were debuting infront of The Pyramid in Aus.

That's all I got for now...

Hang on, did I mention the CD is SIGNED by both Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes? Well it is.

Buy it already, or miss out!

Anyway, here's some other Presets related stuff to tide you over until 4/4/08:

Untitled Track (possibly named Kicking & Screaming) (filden) (zshare)

This is a 128kbps live version of this track by The Presets and was recorded in Melbourne (2008.12.13) on the very first night Daft Punk ever played in Australia.

Do You Feel Daft, Punk?
Pics / Vids / And...
Semi-Unrelated Mixes

Sorry about the lack of coherent-cy in this post, but thats how it is when your running on no sleep and a high from a concert that was days ago... so here are some random topics / paragraphs / pictures and videos...

OK

So I just decided, in an attempt to make some coherent-ness out of this post, to create a sort of content list so you know what to
expect from the post. Hope it helps...

Text - Intro to Daft Punk
Pre-Hype - Pre show vids/movies
Pics - Slide Show (Photos from the day before, to on the way home)
Vid - Presets New Untitled Track
Vid - SebastiAn & Kavinsky with Busy P up to mischief
Vid - Daft Punk Robot Rock
Post-Hype - Arf-tar-part-ey
Text - DGIU's Final Thought (for now...)
Mixtape - Bang Gang DJs (Grey Disc)
Mixtape - Busy P (Let's Get OZ)
Mixtape - Boys Noize (21 Minutes To Know)

So read the other day that the Daft Punk got their name from a NME review that ripped into their old band. The review was from their endeavor as Darlin' which along with Thomas Bangalter & Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo the 'Rock / Surf / Soul' group also featured Laurent 'Branco' Brancowitz (now) of Phoenix fame (com | myspace). The review called Darlin' Daft Punk'. And hence the bohemoeuth began...Man, I want to thank that reviewer!

Check out Daft Punk is screening at my house! for Electroma & Interstella 5555 & lotsa music vids. HERE.

The Presets

Along with 'My People' The Presets also debut another new track. If you ask me, they played this track to test everyone's reaction, as it's so similar to My People! At the start Julian shouts something to the tune of 'When I was young... I collected (?) my hero'. 'My hero' sounds exactly like 'My People'.

I honestly think they were seeing if they would be able to get away with releasing this track too. And I think they could...

Still too early too tell which is better, having only heard it properly once. It sounded so familiar tho, and I couldn't tell if it was because of my people or because I'd heard it before.. which apparently would have been impossible, because as you can hear in the video, "This one's never been heard before, by anyone, except by us two... so we hope you like it..."

Check it out for yourself:

SebastiAn & Kavinsky, with Busy P

Daft Punk

Maybe more vids later...

I don't know if it was because it was Melbourne or because it was Daft Punk (or if it was just for me), but the crowd was great. And I mean great. Sure, some people trying to get closer, but after they realised you weren't letting them through, did they stay and kick you in the ankle? Or give you elbows in the ribs? Nope. They just moved on. Everyone was there for the great time so they didn't was any of it being bastards. Another thing I noticed was the mass of random hugs, hi fives and they like going on on the walk out. Daft Punk just left everyone in the best mood. And so would this...

Daft Punk is having an afterparty! HERE.

Only heard this last night that there were 3 Overdoses At Daft Punk (ninemsn news (look at the title. A 'rave'?) | yahoo news) | the age news), 30 people treated all up, which in my opinion seems pretty low, seeing as there were 13,000 attendees, many of which had been anticipating the even for literally years. Shit thing is, the event co-ords (emails: modular & michael coppel) said NO to an offer of an onsite ambulance. WTF!

Besides the whole drug-dose thing, and I don't know if it was because it was Melbourne or because it was Daft Punk (or if it was just me), but O thought the crowd was great. And I mean great. Sure, some people wore fluro (not many tho), some people tried to get closer, but after they realised you weren't letting them through, did they stay and kick you in the ankle? Or give you elbows in the ribs? Nope. They just moved on.

Daft Punk-ness over and out. For now. For 6 days!

Float my boat.

Here's some stuff that got me going whilst I was trawling the sphere after a week off, some of them have been around for a while, some not, all good...

Romanoff Spitzer: Keepin' It In The Family

It may sound like some fucked up cocktail, and it probably would be if they ever collaborated, but for Romanoff and Spitzer are two (separate) duos I've really been digging lately.

In the spirit of alphabeticalness, firstup is Romanoff

Romanoff

So is was going to say I couldn't remember how I found out about these guys , and how it could have been from any of these on-top-of-it sources from my blogroll... versus / radio sidekick / attorney st / phase02 / get weird turn pro ...But then I remember it was them that found me!

They befriended me on myspace, and after seeing their background picture...

I knew I had to check them out, how could I not?! So I did and they were cool...

Romanoff consists of two cousins (keepin it in the family y'all!) straight outta Brooklyn, NY. Their live shit is off the hook (you can see that from their pics) and besides NY they have already spread their balls of destruction all over Europe, with more coming up soon.

What do you want me to do about it I hear you ask? First of all you've got to check out the one and only Romanoff's myspace, it'll have you fist-pumping your balls into an epileptic fit. It's seriously one of the best myspace pages I've seen, none of that clutter up the page shit, it's so bare that all you can find is their music! How crap is that! And then once you've said 'fuck it, i supposed i'll download their shit if i have too', you find out they've gone and given it to you for free at 320kbps, like the highest quality possibly, just another punch in the face!

Seriously though, after some tough investigative journalism, I did find one piece of information on their myspace, and that is that they call their music 'Thrash / Tropical'. I'd say it was more Punk-Rock, Thrashed up the arse of an Electronic Elephant from the Tropical regions of Russia. But thats just me. Check it out for yourself after the drop.

Romanoff - Stupider Bananas (at least I think thats what it's called, filename says one thing, tag says the other, website says one thing, myspace track player says another) (zshare) (ysi)

And now for...

Spitzer

Once again, this duo is keepin' it in the family, comprising of French brothers Damien & Matthieu and they also found me, sending me their stuff to enlighten my ears. The info they gave me said, and I agree, that they produce Electronic music using computer machines. They want to make you dance and they don't listen to Christian Rock.

What more could you ask for?

Several things actually:
Ask if they can remix your tracks
Ask if they can play your club
Ask them for more tracks / when their 'Roller Coaster EP' is coming out

How?

Find out on their myspace

Now for the audio goodnesss that is Yatch Club. If this duo put any more brotherly love into their tracks I'd be calling the police! It's also their longest track so you can enjoy the love for longer.

Spitzer - Yatch Club (zshare) (ysi)

On another note:

BOOYAAA!

is now coming at you inside the hype machine (if I can be bothered to YouSendIt or direct host the tracks I blog) I'm also pretty proud that my first track up there was The Presets - My People, check it out yo.

That's me out out for a while, as I'm off to Melbourne for the start of what shall be known as Daft Punk Christmas!

(Click for hugeness)

The counts at 3 sleeps for their very first show in Aus on Dec 13th at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne (tickets still available, last time i looked, check out for yourself here), then 9 sleeps after that for their very last show, not just in Australia but of their whole freaking world tour! on Dec 22nd at Sydney Olympic. Should be freaking awesome. If I don't hit you up with more bangers before Daft Punk Christmas Show #1, then when I do, I'll also have some fresh Daft Punk fotos/footage!!

(btw awseome does not even begin to explain how this show will make me feel, Daft Punk alone would be better than awesome , but this is a fucking festival!)

Can't wait eather? Get a fix...

Daft Punk - Technologic (Peaches No Logic Remix) (zshare) (ysi)
Over & Out.

Presets Do Damage (And Vice Versa)

This was just going to be an update on the last post, but then i figured I'd post some more shit too.

First of, the
UPDATE (Here's the 320kbps rip gotta love p2p):

The Presets - My People
(zshare) (you send it)

A myspace rip of the always great Damage (previously /on-special-occasions? Damage On The Backseat) edit:

The Presets - My People (Damage Edit)

I'd call it more of an extended mix rather than an edit, as its a good, and I mean GOOD, two minutes longer.

Some proof of the awesomeness that is Damage, (who although now resides in Vancouver, came from good old Ulladulla -> The ultimate Year-10 (age 16) down-the-coast-piss-up-weekend-getaway-town. Memories...), anyways... proof:

Damage On The Backseat - Strictly Wizard

And for old (old) times sake, keeping with the 'my people theme', a delicious remix by the boys that are Basement Jaxx, of the woman that is Missy Elliott, I bring to you '4 My People':

Missy Elliott - 4 My People (Basement Jaxx Remix)

This the first piece of Basement Jaxx I've posted, I haven't really heard much from them lately, since their 2006 Crazy Itch Radio (probably my least favourite record of their's, yet it's still immensely good). They are pretty awesome live, I've seen them twice, and there is just something about their style. Looking forward to some new shit of theirs soon, hopefully.

Presets: Rougher Than Something Rough

So I was going to post this new Presets track when I first found it but decided to wait till I found a version better then the one I ripped from their mySpace. So I waited, about this morning, when I woke up in an alcohol induced haze, I found it:

The Presets - My People (See newer post for higher quality, or get this one still if you've got limited bandwidth/hearing)

Thanks to the folks at Sky Report and their 128kpbs.

This track is a new direction for the Presets, and I like it. Its a lot rougher and dirtier than the stuff on their last album. The synths are so heavy, an although it might not have all the hand clapiness of their their other stuff, it is still so fucking catchy and the drums just "Feel So Good!", "Scream If Your With Me" (Bitches!)

Compare & Contrast: A Photographic Essay on The Presets

LEFT:
Big Day Out 2006 - The first photo of the day (as they played at like midday!)
RIGHT: Big Day Out 2007 - One of the last photos of the day (as they played just before headliners of the boilerroom Crystal (Fucking Awesome) Method!)

Comparing Pictures - Just as awesome!
Contrasting Times - First of all, WTF were they doing on at midday!?, and secondly this shows how much they took off in one year!

More pictures from BDO'07:
